Lucy Calkins Writing Instruction
Kindergarten
As a kindergarten teacher at OLMCA, I was proficient in and implemented the Lucy Calkins writing curriculum. I tried to create the best lessons for my students by finding Lucy Calkin’s “teaching point” and then adapting the lesson to best fit my students needs. I also tried to make sure my writing units coincided with what we learned in reading, phonics, social students, SEL, science, and/or what was happening at our school/in the world.
