Targeted Interventions

Example Treatment Plan

As part of my Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports, I provide short-term, individualized counseling for students who may not be an appropriate fit for small group interventions or who require more targeted support. In these one-on-one sessions, I develop structured treatment plans informed by multiple data sources, including teacher referral, behavioral observations, and social-emotional screening data (DESSA) .

The middle school example below is grounded in the Coping Cat and ACT & Adapt frameworks, supporting students in understanding anxiety, reducing avoidance, and building flexible thinking and coping skills. Across eight sessions, students identify triggers and body cues, learn and practice coping strategies, challenge anxious thoughts, and apply skills to real-life situations. This plan aligns with ASCA standards and demonstrates my ability to design and implement targeted, data-driven interventions to support students’ social-emotional growth

In my classroom, I created one to two designated spaces where students could go to regulate their emotions. These areas were calm, accessible, and equipped with tools such as fidgets, visual timers, books, and soft seating. Students were explicitly taught how to use these spaces, helping them build independence and return to learning ready to engage.

I plan to incorporate similar regulation spaces in my counseling office and collaborate with teachers to create consistent supports across classrooms.

The following examples highlight targeted interventions I designed and/or implemented in my own classrooms while working as a kindergarten teacher prior to pursuing my master’s in school counseling.
