CASE STUDIES
Behavior Intervention Case Study
Preschool
In the winter of 2020, I conducted a study on a child with “difficult” behaviors during my internship in a preschool classroom at the Gardner School . I collected data on the child’s behavior with ABC charts, created and applied an intervention strategy to try to combat the behaviors, and analyzed the effectiveness of my intervention strategy using graphs.
See my story of the study and the results of my intervention method in my paper to the left.
Literacy Case Study
Kindergarten
In my DePaul course, Reading/Language Arts in the Early Years, I conducted a study on the literacy skills of 5 year old, J. The study was conducted during the fall of 2020. As you can see on the first page of the report, the study includes:
a Fountas and Pinnell running record of J’s reading
a Fountas and Pinnell letter identification assessment
a Words Their Way spelling assessment
a “Where-to-Start” Word test
I combined all of these elements to put together a study of J’s literacy skills, specifically where she was academically with reading, letter identification, and spelling. I then applied these assessments, creating future lesson ideas for J.
See below for a slideshow of the assessments completed by myself.
